The Lewis & Harris Piping Society

Rules

  1. You must be resident in the Western Isles (Outer Hebrides) at the time of the competition. Competitors can be resident anywhere in the Western Isles including Lewis, Harris, Uist and Barra.
  2. You must be the correct age for the category you choose to enter on the 19th June 2020. 
  3. If you play pipes you are not permitted to enter the chanter competitions.
  4. You must be in clear view in the video and play the music from memory. Although you can take as many takes as you like, the video you submit will be final.
  5. Each video must contain one performance for one competition only.
  6. Each recording must start with you holding up a piece of paper with the competition code, your name and your competitor number on it.
  7. Dress code is smart clothing.
  8. Competitors in the Novice Piping Primary and Secondary categories can play a 2 parted March twice if they are not able to play a 4 parted March.
  9. Due to the current circumstances, for the Piping categories points will not be deducted if pipes are not in tune. Competitors can block off drones if they wish.
  10. All Under 16 and Under 18 categories require at least 4 or more parts.
  11. The judge’s decision is final. During these uncertain times if for any reason any judge has to withdraw from adjudicating this competition, it is agreed that adjudication will continue with the remaining judges.
